The Magnet Program was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize healthcare organizations that demonstrate quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. Only 6.3 percent of healthcare organizations in the United States have achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition status. Presently, there are 372 Magnet designated hospitals in the world.
